Ness_Knife Never Letting Go

A young adult quest with genuine moments of high emotion but also a relentless, dour futility that cries out for—yet in this first book of the trilogy, doesn’t afford—resolution. Bower’s audiobook reading is grist to the grimly dystopian first-person narrative.

A Doctor Who spinoff in name only. This appropriation of Coal Hill School carries an oppressive, bleak atmosphere, and far too much teenage angst to sit well (especially sans all but the occasional sardonic quip for comic relief). Nevertheless, a worthwhile experiment.
