Three episodes set in New York, three in England. Bertie is equally in the soup in both environments, being put upon by uninvited guests, overbearing aunts, gormless chums and unwanted love interests, to an extent that even Jeeves cannot always save him.

Clive Exton hits his adaptive stride, taking plot lines from various of the Jeeves & Wooster novels and short stories and stitching them into familiar (yet pleasingly independent) single-episode treatments. Hugh Laurie’s iteration really is the perfect multiversal embodiment of Bertie Wooster.

A frivolous bit of fun, and well-cast (in the over-the-top support roles as well as Fry & Laurie, who are about as Jeeves-ish & Wooster-like as one could imagine). Ultimately, however, there’s only so much that can be done without Wodehouse’s prose.
