Knight Owl

The titular pun proves a serviceable basis from which to explore and subvert tropes. Though Denise’s illustrations are rather gloomy (appropriate enough for the mediaeval setting), Owl, with his small stature and wide, frightened eyes, successfully challenges the traditional notion of hero.
