Looking for Alaska

Looking for Alaska by John Green (Dutton, 2005); audiobook read by Jeff Woodman (Brilliance, 2006) Although his protagonist is passive and self-centred and the story casually glorifies self-destructive behaviour, Green manages through clever use of pathos to twist things around and promote the opposite qualities. His secondary characters render the book unforgettable, especially in Woodman’s audiobook reading.
