Killjoys, Season 4 created by Michelle Lovretta (2018) Killjoys season four follows the trend of programmes seeking higher and higher stakes only to lose their way and fall into a chasm of pointlessness. The character dynamic remains true and the scripting is ingenious, but it’s a never-ending fall to nowhere.
Killjoys, Season 3 created by Michelle Lovretta (2017) In its third season, Killjoys crosses the point of no return where episodes become no longer self-contained but rather beads in a plot-arc necklace. The overall story may still pull viewers in (‘tis the way of manipulation) but the loss is lamentable.
Killjoys, Season 2 created by Michelle Lovretta (2016) It is a tribute to the appeal of Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) and Johnny and D’avin Jaqobis (Aaron Ashmore and Luke Macfarlane) that the titular bounty-hunting aspect of Killjoys has been left behind but the show still works, mixing action, dystopia and humour.
Killjoys, Season 1 created by Michelle Lovretta (2015) Firefly meets Banshee in this nicely balanced SF action adventure series (with touches of humour). The dynamic between the three bounty hunters affords plenty of scope for developing storylines, as does the socio-political complexity of the dystopian future in which they operate.
